An Introduction to Pagan Ceremony and Celebration

This aim of this course is to provide an introduction to Pagan ceremony and celebration to those who are taking their first steps along the path. It is designed to help people who have read a few books on the subject to make the transition from theory to practise in a safe, fun and friendly environment. The session will consist of a mixture of teaching, discussion and simple practical exercises, and will conclude with a group ceremony where participants will get the opportunity to try out some of their new found skills under the reassuring guidance of the course facilitators.

Both days will begin at 11.00 am. On the Saturday we end at 5pm and Sunday at 6pm.

To book your place please email Geraldine or Darren

Session 1:

  • • What is the difference between celebration, ceremony and ritual?
  • • Planning and preparing the space and ourselves. Salt and water blessing and casting of the circle to create sacred space
  • • The Elements-what are they and how we can call on them to bless our ceremony?
  • • The Goddess and God - how do we perceive them and how do we call on them to bless our ceremony?

Session 2:

  • • Simple ideas on how we can celebrate the Sabbats (Pagan festivals) and therefore tune in with the wheel of the year
  • • Discussion and ideas on other times we would create and work within sacred space e.g. healing or other magical work, devotional work etc
  • • How to bless the cakes and wine for the sacrament and how to close down the sacred space
  • • Discussion and group ceremony

Tea and coffee will be provided but please bring a packed lunch on both days, and a little food and drink for sharing after the ceremony on the Sunday.

Overnight camping can be arranged for a small additional cost. Please contact Geraldine and Darren about this.

About the course facilitators: Geraldine and Darren are a Wiccan High priestess and Priest respectively, who for a few years now have been actively involved in community work through the organising of a social Moot and open Sabbat ceremonies in their home county of Hertfordshire. More recently they have taken on the role of Pagan Federation regional coordinators for Beds, Bucks and Herts and are keen to promote a positive perception of Paganism wherever they can, and to aid the building of bridges between all members of the community. Profits from this course are to be donated to the Regional funds in order to further this work.
