Sangoma medicine involves age old ways of working with medicinal plants. The idea behind the treatments is to help balance & strengthen the spirit of the individual. John will be using a combination of local and South African medicinal plants. An infusion of plants is prepared in water. Clients will place their feet in a foot basin of medicinal plants for a deeply relaxing and invigorating plant treatment.

These treatments are suitable for a variety of conditions, such as fatigue, low energy, depression, insomnia, dream disorders etc. They are also beneficial for therapists suffering from ‘healers fatigue’ brought on by seeing many clients.

John's work is acutely relevant at a time when western society is exploring spirituality beyond organised religion, and reconnecting with the earth, intuition and ancestry. A growing public interest in genealogy (and a yearning to understand the lives of our ancestors) has inspired websites, magazines and numerous TV series. John takes these trends deeper, into a realm that’s rooted in sacred tradition, offering a unique blend of cultures and secret teachings which honour his African, English and Irish ancestral lineages.

Sangoma Divinations

John does a divination using 'bones' (shells, stones and other sacred objects). He goes into meditation and connects with his ancestral spirit guides, as well as the spirits of the client to search, divine or 'see' what is happening with the client emotionally, physically and spiritually.

At the start, John will not ask you about your reasons for wanting a consultation. The work is purer and more powerful when he does not know your personal situation or concerns, and when he simply focuses on what he discovers in the ‘bones’ themselves.

Sangoma (or shamanic) sessions differ from traditional psychotherapy in that when someone is consulting with a sangoma it is widely believed they are consulting with not only the individual in front of them, but also the shamanic lineage that they are connected to. John’s ancestral spirits or guides help to heal the person at soul level, and sometimes a person might feel the effects of a session for weeks, months or even years afterwards.
