Fire by Friction Day

Sat 12/6/21 - 10:00 am

Practitioner: Helpers Mentoring Society – Feathers

Join the Helpers Mentoring Society for this day of fun and learn this ancient skill for yourself and your community. We will take you step by step through the process of how to bring fire into being with friction.

Bringing fire to life by friction is one of those skills that develops connection on such a deep level, far greater than any other method of fire ignition.

You will not only develop connection to fire itself, but also to nature, community, weather, the ancestors - and yourself. This day will be full of practical experience to learn all the ways fire can teach us.

Our main focus will be the method of the Bow Drill Friction Fire, but there will also be opportunities to use the hand drill, bamboo fire saw and pump drill.

Our aim is for you to be a keeper of this ancient method of working with fire.

Here is what we will cover on the day:

  • Guided mentoring on how to make a friction fire
  • Tinder bundles and ignition principles
  • From nothing to fire
  • Different fire lays from cultures around the world
  • Uses of fire - ceremony
  • Working with intention to develop connection
  • The wisdom of the ancestors
  • Tricks and tips for mastering the skill

With over 20 years of experience we love helping people develop their own profound relationship with this ancient ancestral skill.
